Shigeki Sasaki

Shigeki Sasaki, born in 1954 in Japan. The University of Tokyo (BS 1977, MS 1979; Ph.D. 1982 with Professor K. Koga). Postdoctoral fellow at Indiana University, USA (Professor P. A. Grieco, 1982-1984). Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo (1984-1990). Associate (1990-2002) and Professor (2002-present) at Kyushu University. He started his research carrier in the field of “host-guest” chemistry, and experienced the synthesis of natural products and PET ligands. He is currently focusing his effort on establishment of the strategy for the “genome-targeting chemistry” using artificially-designed functional molecules, which include small DNA-binding molecules as well as the reactive oligodeoxynucleotides discussed in this symposium.
